AIDAcosma – Sports, Gym & Running Track Reviewed

How good is the fitness and sports offering on the AIDAcosma? We took a close look at the running track, gym, courses, swimming and other sports options, and rated them.

⭐ Sport-Ahoi Score: 3.0 / 5 πŸ™‚

Note on the Sport-Ahoi rating: This rating focuses solely on the sporting opportunities on board and is not an overall review of the ship. Even with a lower rating, a ship can still be a great choice for a sporty holiday when combined with active excursions and exercise ashore.

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Running & Cardio – 3/5

The AIDAcosma offers a jogging track on Deck 18 with a lap of around 250 meters. The track is relatively narrow and winding and runs partly through the pool bar area, where there can be a lot of foot traffic. Use is also limited to opening hours from 8am to 10pm. Overall, the track is only really suitable for casual sessions outside the main deck hours.

The cardio area in the gym is a much better option: it offers around 16 treadmills, 14 cross trainers, and 22 exercise bikes, complemented by additional equipment in the outdoor area.

πŸ‘‰ Solid to good – but only when using the cardio area in the gym.

πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ Gym & Strength Training – 3/5

For strength training, there are around 11 strength machines, 2 multi-press stations, and one cable station. The free weights area is fairly small, however, and doesn't have benches, which noticeably limits the strength training selection. On the plus side, there's an additional outdoor training area that can be used flexibly for functional training.

πŸ‘‰ Sufficient for general training, limited for serious strength training.

🧘 Sports Courses – 4/5

The course offering is extensive, ranging from yoga to HIIT and step to back-strengthening classes. Most courses are free, with only a few specialty courses at an extra charge. Registration is generally required to take part.

πŸ‘‰ Varied and well organized.

🏊 Swimming – 1/5

There's no dedicated sports pool on the AIDAcosma. The pools available aren't suitable for structured swimming.

πŸ‘‰ Practically unsuitable for athletic swimming.

πŸ€ Ball Sports – 3/5

Deck 18 has a multi-purpose sports court suitable for basketball, football, and recreational games. The area doesn't offer much variety, though, and use is limited depending on what else is going on board.

🎯 Other Sports Options – 3/5

There's also mini golf on Deck 8, outdoor training areas, and classic recreational activities.

πŸ‘‰ A solid addition, but not a highlight area.

🚴 Active Shore Excursions – 4/5

AIDA offers a broad program of active shore excursions: guided bike and e-bike tours, hikes at various difficulty levels, diving and snorkeling, stand-up paddling including guide and equipment, and golf offerings worldwide. Tours are often led by local guides, sometimes including transfer and equipment, and cover various skill levels. How extensive the offering is in detail depends heavily on the route and destination.

πŸ‘‰ A broad, well-organized offering – strongly dependent on route and destination.

πŸ§– Recovery & Relaxation – 3/5

The spa area is large and modern, with several saunas, whirlpools, relaxation zones, and a varied wellness offering. Access to the spa area comes at an extra charge, though, which is reflected in the rating.

πŸ‘‰ A good offering, but limited in accessibility – hence a solid rating.

🧠 Overall Conclusion

The AIDAcosma particularly impresses with:

βœ… A strong cardio area in the gym
βœ… A varied course offering
βœ… Good recreational options
βœ… A broad program of active shore excursions

Weaknesses show up in:

❌ The running track on deck (short and narrow)
❌ Strength training (limited equipment)
❌ The lack of a dedicated sports pool

πŸ‘‰ Sport-Ahoi Score: 3.0 / 5 πŸ™‚

The AIDAcosma offers a broad sports program with a clear focus on cardio, courses, and varied recreational options. Beginners and casual sports enthusiasts will get their money's worth here, while more ambitious athletes will need to accept some limitations in certain areas – particularly the running track and strength training.
