The cruise port of Abu Dhabi is located around 2.5 kilometers from the beginning of the beautiful Corniche promenade. Here, it is possible to run for many kilometers with views of the sea and the Abu Dhabi skyline. To avoid turning around immediately after reaching the promenade, this route starts directly at the Corniche. The starting point can be reached within a few minutes by taxi or ride apps such as Bolt, Careem, or Uber. Afterwards, you can either return to the cruise port by taxi or run back to the ship to extend the distance.
The route starts at Corniche Sea Side. After just a few meters, there are impressive views of the sea, the Abu Dhabi skyline, and the wide city beaches along the Corniche.
The route follows the wide promenade for the entire run. On the right side are the sea and the Corniche beaches, while the skyscrapers of Abu Dhabi rise on the left side. Highlights include the Etihad Towers and the striking Rixos Marina Hotel. The turnaround point is located at West Bay Beach. From there, you can either take a taxi back to the cruise port or extend the route individually.
The Corniche is one of the best running locations in Abu Dhabi. The route offers excellent running conditions directly by the sea, no car traffic, and spectacular skyline views at the same time. The route can also be run comfortably in the evening. The only disadvantage is the short taxi transfer needed for this compact route. In return, you get one of the most beautiful promenade routes in the Emirates.
If you want to see the main highlights of Abu Dhabi, a guided tour to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, the Royal Palace, and the Etihad Towers is a great option. Pickup directly from the cruise port is possible. Afterwards, there is usually still enough time for a walk or run.
A slightly more active alternative is a sightseeing boat tour along the Abu Dhabi skyline. In this case, transportation must be organized individually. If you are especially motivated, you can even run the return route from the Corniche back to the cruise port, which adds around 13 kilometers.

You can either follow the route directly on the map on this page or import the GPX file into a navigation app such as Komoot. We recommend using the GPX file because it provides much more precise GPS navigation while running. Once the GPX file is saved in your app, offline navigation is usually possible as well.
We recommend testing the navigation beforehand in airplane mode without Wi-Fi to make sure it works without an internet connection.
Tip: It is still useful to have internet access while traveling. If your mobile provider offers expensive roaming in the United Arab Emirates, a global data plan for cruises can be a good solution, for example from eSIM.sm (advertisement).
The Corniche route is considered very safe. The promenade is car-free, very wide, and also busy in the evening.
Because a transfer is required, you should plan enough extra time. If time becomes tight, apps such as Bolt or Uber should be installed and ready to use. They work very well in Abu Dhabi. For emergencies, it is also recommended to save the ship's phone number in advance.
There is a public toilet at Corniche Beach. There are also many free drinking water stations along the promenade.
The route follows asphalt paths and paved promenade sections. Regular running shoes are sufficient. We also recommend sunscreen (ad), enough water, and a phone or sports watch for navigation. A lightweight collapsible bottle (ad) is especially practical because it can easily be refilled along the route. A payment option is also useful, although in Abu Dhabi you can usually pay everywhere by card or smartphone.
