Doha's cruise port is located directly on Doha Bay, offering an ideal starting point for running or walking. This half marathon route connects the Mina Parks, MIA Park, and the entire Corniche promenade with spectacular views of Doha's skyline.
The route starts directly at Doha's cruise port. From the very first meters, a beautiful view of the city's skyline opens up. The route then runs towards the coast, first through Mina Park 2 and then through Mina Park 1.
After the parks, you reach the Corniche. The route now follows the famous waterfront promenade with views of the Doha skyline and skyscrapers. After about 5 km, you pass the FIFA World Cup 2022 Flag Monument.
The route follows the Corniche to Al Dafna Park at the northern end of the bay. This is the turnaround point of the route.
The return journey initially follows the same route back south. However, just before the harbor, the route also goes through MIA Park. There, you'll once again get a beautiful view of the Doha skyline before the route leads back to the cruise port.
This route offers excellent conditions for a long run directly from the cruise port. Especially the Corniche with its skyline and the well-maintained paths through the parks make this half marathon route one of the best running opportunities in Qatar. Due to the almost flat terrain, the route is also very suitable for faster runs.
The half marathon route is ideal for athletically ambitious cruisers who want to explore Doha actively. Its direct location at the cruise port allows the run to be flexibly integrated into your stay.
If you want to combine nature and adventure, you can take a kayak tour through the mangroves in northern Qatar. Transfer from the cruise port is possible, so the excursion can be easily combined with an easy run or walk along the Corniche. Otherwise, you can also find guided city tours through Doha via the links below.
Alternatively, a desert safari with sandboarding and an optional camel ride is available. Pickup at the harbor is also possible here. After an action-packed excursion, the Corniche is excellent for a relaxed walk or an easy run with a view of the Doha skyline.
The route starts directly at Doha's cruise port.
You can either follow the route directly on the map on this page or import the GPX file into a navigation app like Komoot. We recommend navigating via the GPX file, as it is much more precise and provides clear guidance via GPS during your run. After saving the GPX file in your app, you can usually use the map offline. We recommend testing the navigation in airplane mode without active Wi-Fi beforehand to ensure it works even without an internet connection.
Tip: For safety, it's still useful to have internet while on the go. If your mobile provider in Qatar offers no or only expensive data roaming, a global data plan that works in many countries is suitable for cruises – for example, from eSIM.sm (advertisement).
The route is considered very safe. Roads only need to be crossed in a few places. The paths along the Corniche and in the parks are well-maintained and mostly car-free. The route is also generally well-lit in the evening.
The route can be flexibly shortened by turning around earlier on the Corniche. In an emergency, it is advisable to save the ship's phone number and to install and familiarize yourself with apps like Uber and Bolt beforehand. These services work very well in Doha.
Public restrooms are located in MIA Park and in the northern area of the Corniche. Public drinking water points are not known along the route. We recommend taking enough water with you.
The route is mostly on asphalt and paved paths. Normal running shoes are sufficient. We also recommend bringing sun protection (ad), enough water, and a cell phone or watch for navigation. Additionally, a payment method is useful, although in Qatar you can usually pay by card or smartphone.
