Dubai has two cruise ports. Dubai Harbor near the Dubai Marina neighborhood south of Palm Jumeirah, and Port Rashid, located in northern Dubai near the mouth of Dubai Creek. This run starts in the immediate vicinity of Dubai Harbor and follows a loop along the harbor promenade, the Dubai Marina Walk. The Dubai Marina is one of the most popular running spots in the United Arab Emirates and is especially known to tourists and expats for its spectacular skyline.
The route starts between the end of the cruise berths and the beginning of the marina. Depending on the ship's berth, the actual starting point may be a few hundred meters away. Already on your way, an impressive view of the Dubai Marina skyscrapers emerges.
Cross the street at the Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Mosque. Then the route continues towards the Dubai Marina Walk promenade. From there, the route follows the water to the third bridge after the Dubai Marina Mall. Cross the Marina over this bridge. After that, the route again follows the promenade to the large bridge back towards the mosque. From there, the return journey follows the same route back to the cruise port.
Dubai Marina is an impressive neighborhood. The Dubai Marina Walk is quickly accessible from the cruise port and offers a great opportunity to discover the Dubai Marina in a sporty way. In our opinion, this is the best 10-km route directly from Dubai Harbor cruise port.
The route is ideal as a relaxed start to the day or a gentle finish after a longer excursion in Dubai.
If you want to combine action and a desert experience, you can book a desert safari with quad biking, camel riding, and sandboarding. The tour can be arranged directly with pickup at Dubai Harbor and is excellent for following up with a relaxed run or walk along the Marina.
Alternatively, a visit to the Burj Khalifa is an option – one of Dubai's most famous landmarks. After the excursion, you can process the impressions gained on this route.
The route starts in the immediate vicinity of Dubai Harbor cruise port. Depending on the ship's berth, the actual starting point can be up to about 500 meters away.
You can follow the route either directly via the map on this page or import the GPX file into a navigation app like Komoot. We recommend navigating via the GPX file, as it is much more precise and you will receive clear guidance via GPS while running. After you have saved the GPX file in your app, you can usually use the map offline. We recommend testing the navigation in airplane mode without active Wi-Fi beforehand to ensure it works without an internet connection.
Tip: For safety, it is still useful to have internet on the go. If your mobile provider in Dubai does not offer data roaming or only expensive roaming, a global data plan that works in many countries is suitable for cruises – for example, from eSIM.sm (advertisement).
The route along the Dubai Marina Walk is very safe. Street crossings are via traffic lights and there are separate sidewalks on the bridges. There is also no car traffic along the Marina.
The route can be flexibly shortened by using earlier bridges for crossing. In case of emergency, it is advisable to save the ship's phone number in advance. In addition, apps like Bolt or Uber should be installed and ready to use. These work very reliably in Dubai.
Public restrooms along the route are not known. However, restrooms are located near Marina Beach and in the Dubai Marina Mall. There are water dispensers along the Marina, but these are mostly designed for refilling bottles. Numerous options for buying drinks are available.
The route runs over paved paths and promenades. Normal running shoes are sufficient. We also recommend bringing sun protection (ad), enough water, and a cell phone or watch for navigation. A payment option is also useful, although in Dubai, you can usually pay by card or smartphone.
