Dubai has two cruise ports: Dubai Harbour near the Dubai Marina neighborhood south of Palm Jumeirah, and Port Rashid, located in northern Dubai near the mouth of the Dubai Creek. This run starts very close to Dubai Harbour and follows a small loop along the harbor promenade, the Dubai Marina Walk. Dubai Marina is one of the most popular running spots in the United Arab Emirates and is particularly known among tourists and expats for its spectacular skyline.
The route starts at the beginning of the marina near Dubai Harbour. Depending on your berth, the actual starting point may be up to one kilometer away. Even on the way, you'll get an impressive view of the Dubai Marina skyscrapers.
Cross the street at the Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Mosque. Afterward, the route heads towards the harbor promenade of the Dubai Marina Walk. From there, the route follows the water to the first bridge, where you cross the Marina. Then the route again follows the promenade to the large bridge back towards the mosque. From there, you'll return along the same route back to the cruise port.
Dubai Marina is one of the most impressive running spots in Dubai. The route combines a modern skyline, wide promenades, and excellent infrastructure right on the water. It's perfect for an easy run or walk starting directly from the Dubai Harbour cruise port.
This route is ideal as a gentle start to the day or a relaxing finish after a longer excursion in Dubai.
If you want to combine action and a desert experience, you can book a desert safari with quad biking, camel riding, and sandboarding. The tour can be organized with direct pickup at Dubai Harbour and is excellent for a subsequent easy run or walk along the Marina.
Alternatively, a visit to the Burj Khalifa — one of Dubai's most famous landmarks — is an option. The route along the Marina is then perfect for processing your impressions of the city after the excursion.
The route starts in the immediate vicinity of the Dubai Harbour cruise port. Depending on your berth, the actual starting point may be up to about one kilometer away.
You can follow the route directly via the map on this page or import the GPX file into a navigation app like Komoot. We recommend navigating via the GPX file, as it is much more precise and provides clear guidance via GPS while you're running. After saving the GPX file in your app, you can usually use the map offline. We recommend testing navigation in airplane mode without active Wi-Fi beforehand to ensure it works even without an internet connection.
Tip: For safety, it's still useful to have internet while on the go. If your mobile provider in Dubai offers no or only expensive data roaming, a global data plan that works in many countries is suitable for cruises — for example, from eSIM.sm (advertisement).
The route along the Dubai Marina Walk is very safe. Street crossings are via traffic lights, and there are separate pedestrian paths on the bridges. There is also no car traffic along the Marina.
Since the route is relatively compact and passes near the harbor multiple times, it can easily be shortened. In case of an emergency, it's advisable to save the ship's phone number beforehand. Also, apps like Bolt or Uber should be installed and ready for use. These apps work very reliably in Dubai.
Public restrooms along the route are not known. However, restrooms are located near Marina Beach and in the Dubai Marina Mall. There are water dispensers along the Marina, but these are mostly designed for refilling bottles. There are also options to purchase drinks.
The route runs on paved paths and promenades. Normal running shoes are sufficient. We also recommend bringing sun protection (ad), enough water, and a cell phone or watch for navigation. A payment method is also useful, although in Dubai you can usually pay by card or smartphone.
